Meet Rayven, a 25-year-old InSomnia hailing from Parañaque, who goes by the name Ray. He became a devoted fan of Dreamcatcher during their debut era in 2017, with JiU as his ultimate bias. Ray shared his unique journey into the world of Dreamcatcher and how the group has become an integral part of his life.
How did you become an InSomnia?
Ray’s journey into being an InSomnia began unexpectedly. A fan of rock music, he said, “I saw Dreamcatcher on Nickelodeon and that’s when I became a fan”. The distinctive style of Dreamcatcher’s music, blending various subgenres of rock, captivated Ray’s musical sensibilities. This unique approach sets Dreamcatcher apart, consistently delivering a distinct sound and quality songs that dominate the playlists of their loyal fans.
What role does Dreamcatcher play in your life, and how has it impacted you?
In response to this, Ray expressed, “Dreamcatcher taught me to be myself.” The group’s inclusive and accepting nature has played a significant role in shaping his perspective. He added, “Dreamcatcher has enriched my life to become a better person… Maybe?”
How do you express your support for Dreamcatcher, whether through fan projects or social media?
Ray actively supports Dreamcatcher through various channels. He recommends their songs to friends, hoping to convert them into fans. Engaging with the InSomnia community through chat groups and attending fan gatherings and concerts, Ray remains deeply connected to the fandom. Having attended both of Dreamcatcher’s concerts in the Philippines and the Asia Artist Awards 2023, where the group received an award, Ray is a dedicated supporter.
How do you balance being an InSomnia with other aspects of your life?
Ray emphasized that “being an InSomnia is an integral part” of who he is. Rather than seeking balance, he integrates his values as a fan into various aspects of his life.
If you had the opportunity to convey a message and anniversary greeting to Dreamcatcher, what would it be?
“Hi Dreamcatcher! Thanks for being a part of my daily life and for me being an InSomnia. I hope to see you again. More music, and stay healthy. Take care always!” He concluded by expressing his hope for more tours and concerts from Dreamcatcher in the future.
Ray’s journey into the realm of K-pop began in 2012, and he admires idols from various groups, including STAYC, QWER, SEVENTEEN, tripleS, Red Velvet, and more. His favorite Dreamcatcher title tracks include “Fly High”, “What”, and “BONVOYAGE”, while his preferred B-sides are “Jazz Bar”, “Silent Night”, and “Wind Blows”. Outside of K-pop, Ray aspires to become a football player and enjoys his free time watching Vinland Saga. He shared with us that he identifies as a super shy person and finds solace in his favorites, particularly any food with ube or taro flavors.
